Hi! My name is Gina. I live in a sailboat at the harbor in Oceanside, California. I am married and have two children. We also have a live-aboard cat named Toulouse.
I am currently a full-time student at the Academy of Art University. I got the bug to go back to school in the Fall of 2014 to work toward obtaining a BA in Web Design and New Media.
I first practiced yoga about 20 years ago. I was an avid yogi for a few years but then got caught up in my career and stopped practicing. Since then I have gone through periods of practice and times of yoga-drought. After a long spell of non-practicing years, at the age of 50 I really began to feel changes in my physical being. I had lost a lot of flexibility and could feel my strength dwindling quickly, not to mention the few extra pounds that are sneaking on. I have also been branded as a bearer of Ulcerative Colitis and after taking medications for nine years, have decided to have a go a being medicine free. This is what brought me back to yoga about five months ago in September 2015. My first few weeks were very hard. My muscles shook and struggled through many classes. It amazes me though how much progress I have already made, inside and out. There will always be more room for improvement but I am happy to feel strong again and to actually be able to hold myself calmly in so many poses.
I have also felt a great deal of improvement with focus. As an online student, and working from home, there can be many distractions but I find it much easier to work productively now than before I started back to yoga.
I decided to share some tips, thoughts and “how-tos” on yoga in general and perhaps even tell you how my personal progress is going.
Namaste
